As we propel ourselves into 2025, I wanted to start a blog for women like me, over 50, who want to optimize their health. I plan to share my favorite biohacking tools as well as supplements, nutrition tips and fantastic athleisure finds. Please join me on the road to feeling better and thriving beyond 50!

Here is another snack that is easy to throw in your bag on the go… the Thai seasoning is especially delicious! Gluten free, high in fiber and Vitamin D… Links: Mushroom Jerky Thai, BBQ
If you’re a low carber, you may miss the crispy, salty taste of chips! I stumbled onto this brand in my local health store, they are loaded with protein (chicken based) and taste fantastic! Link: Wilde Chips
Every day I hear about how much protein I should be eating… while the RDA is 0.8 grams per kg of body weight at the extreme low, most experts tell you to eat closer to 1g per pound if you want to lose weight or build muscle. Getting enough protein can be difficult if you’re on the go or not preparing most of your meals, so I find that protein powder can be a good solution. After a lot of trial and error in the protein powder market & throwing away plenty of bad tasting product, I stumbled onto Kion’s chocolate protein power (grass fed/whey isolate), it is really delicious! LINK PROTEIN POWER… And, you can also use an amino acid supplement to hit your daily target on those days when protein is harder to get in – Kion’s mango flavor is my fav… LINK AMINO ACIDS
Many of you have asked about red light – I use it to relieve sore muscles and to reduce my face wrinkles! I purchased devices from Joovv years ago, and still use both of them regularly (they emit both red and near-infrared light) – I have a Mini and a Go model. Joovv’s New Year sale is on, if a red light device is on your wish list. Enjoy! LINK Joovv
I’m sure you’re thinking, what is that, a waterbed?!! I stumbled on the Chilipad mattress early in the pandemic after waking up in a firestorm multiple times a night. This device was the answer to my prayers. The ideal temp for sleep is between 60 & 69 degrees C, and cooler temps help you fall and stay asleep. As far as Chilipad models (made by a company called Sleep Me), you can buy a half a pad or a whole one so you can have your own, you and your partner can each have one, or you can buy one for the bed. The higher end models allow you to program a schedule with temps (you can sleep cold & wake up warm) & track your sleep, and the base model allows you to adjust manually until you power off. We have both models (one travels), they have stood the test of time, and Sleep Me has a great customer service dept if you need it. Maintenance is easy after you fill it up the first time, you drop in a cleaning solution every month or so and top off with distilled water as needed. The price tag may look hefty, but amortized over many years of good sleep, it’s a bargain! The Sleep Me site also has great seasonal sales so check it out.LINK Chilipad
This is perhaps the supplement I LOVE the most, I average about two of these packs a day, and they help me stay hydrated by flavoring my water! Each pack contains sodium, potassium and magnesium + stevia, no other junk – ingredients are clean, no sugar, no gluten and you can stave off leg cramps! They produce a range of flavors, I love the grapefruit salt + the citrus salt (great mixer) but truly all of the flavors are terrific, including chocolate which can be mixed hot. If you haven’t seen a vibration plate before, it’s a simple and easy way to stimulate your muscles and help maintain your bone density – you just stand on it. Later in life, we can lose up to 1% of our muscle mass each year, so it’s critical to lift heavy things (resistance training) and keep an eye on our bone density. I’ve been using this lifepro model for many years, I do it for about 10 minutes each morning while listening to podcasts and getting some red light on my face. I also gave one to my mom for Christmas, so she can exercise inside. It’s a great addition to your home gym or living room!LINK lifepro
I’ve been using a sauna regularly for over three years… I purchased a Sunlighten infrared two-person model, she is beautiful and lives in the garage on a concrete slab. Saunas have been shown to reduce cardiovascular disease, improve skin health, relieve sore muscles and help your body detox. It’s also a great way to simply take a break. Mine has bluetooth so I can pipe in a podcast or listen to music. After yoga, weight lifting and hiking Stone Mountain yesterday, today was a great day for sauna session! I highly recommend Sunlighten, you can find their founder on the podcast circuit if you want to learn more about the health benefits. LINK Sunlighten
I’ve been a big fan of the Oura ring for over 4.5 years now, I have three rings – a bronze and two silvers… I was trying out different colors and finger sizes and lost and found one of the rings, hence the collection. I first started using an Oura ring in the fall of 2020 when I was waking up every night, and then began to diligently track my REM, deep sleep, and my HRV. After many years of experimentation, I now routinely score over 90 in both sleep and readiness. Along with other complementary technologies (future posts!) and a regular sleep schedule, the Oura ring is a great way to demystify your nightly sleep patterns – and the app interface is very user friendly. For us menopausal women, the Oura is also a game changer if you want to confirm how HRT improves sleep! Oura Link
